Who’s Your Father?
If you grew up on the Island, you’ve likely been asked this key question: Who’s your father?
But what if you don’t know the answer?
This holiday season, Feast Dinner Theatres presents the comic side of this paternal dilemma in its latest production, “Who’s Your Father?”
“It’s Mamma Mia on P.E.I. — until it goes off the rails!” says artistic director Sherri-Lee Darrach, noting the dinner theatre provides humorous echoes of the famous musical.
At this show, guests attend a holiday party hosted by Hayley — an Islander who uses the festive occasion to finally confirm her father’s identity. Her investigation provides an evening packed with plot twists, laughter, top Maritime musical entertainment, and interaction with the talented performers who bring her story to life.
With references to Mamma Mia and flashbacks to the ‘90s, the show offers an engaging blend of music that adds to the nostalgia and fun of the night.
“Music creates the mood of the show,” says musical director Adam MacGregor, noting the selections build not only scenes but memories for the audience.
Guests can expect to connect with musical memories of ABBA, top bands of the ‘90s, and holiday favourites arranged in the Feast’s innovative style.
The casts boast a full slate of dinner theatre veterans, including Aaron Ellis, returning for his ninth show. Ellis agrees the celebration of the season adds to the energy of the audience.
“They aren’t afraid to laugh,” he says. “We just want them to come and have fun.”
“Who’s Your Father?” is produced by Don Groom of White Rose Entertainment and written by Mike Allison, a Feast veteran and head writer for CBC comedy This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
The menu features another Feast favourite: the traditional Christmas buffet with oven-roasted turkey, ham, stuffing, potatoes, vegetables, salads and dessert.
Performances run at Rodd Charlottetown (Nov. 22-26; Dec. 5-10, 12-21), Summerside’s Brothers 2 (Nov. 17-19, 23-26, 30; Dec. 1-3, 6-10, 12-17, 19-21), and Rodd Miramichi River (Nov. 29-Dec. 2).
